As a photographer, there are certain images that we make that have special meaning to us. Tonight I was lucky enough to get to spend some time with Lucas and has parents. My job was to capture this family and their love for each other, as I do for many families. What made this session extra special is that my job was also to photograph this beautiful little boy and the two eyes that he was born with…
I feel like I am being drawn to write this blog post. Pulled in it’s direction like a magnet. As if this week the universe has been screaming at me to write this… For the last 10 years of my life I have been an Occupational Therapist. My value was obvious when I went to work each day. I worked with patients who were at a low point in their lives. They were sick, tired, discouraged. I helped them regain strength, relearn how to care for themselves and return home. Or, I did the best that I could to make… Read More
We are blessed to be a part of this amazing community!
We were honored this year to be asked to photograph Pop the Cause in Rockport Maine. This is an event which was presented by Cellardoor Winery and Megunticook Market in Camden. While Pop the Cause was an incredible party with unbelievable food, wine, and entertainment the heart of the event was the $160,000 that was given to 4 local nonprofits.
To follow in the foot steps (though they are likely MUCH SMALLER footsteps) of Cellardoor Winery and Megunticook Market we are going to donate 100% of profits from the Pop the Cause gallery to New Hope for Women in Rockland Maine. If you would like to view the entire gallery and purchase a print or download to raise money for this important charity you may access the gallery here: http://store.5iveleafphotography.com/Events/Pop-the-Cause-2014/
We’ve been picked to display our photography at the Hope General Store (Facebook link) in Hope, Maine for the next month. If you’re in the area, stop in and check it out. Any of the prints can be purchased as 11″x14″ prints or as 16″x24″ canvases. Thank you to Andrew at the Hope General Store for the opportunity to show our work. Cheers!
We got to meet a very special little man today. Bently and I share something in common and I feel very connected to this little guy. We were both born with Tetrallogy of Fallot, known to some as “Blue Babies.” Though we were born 31 years apart, we now share the same doctors. The incredible surgeon, Reed Quinn, who performed Bently’s life saving heart surgery a few weeks ago, also performed my pulmonary valve replacement last year. Bently is healing well and he is a beautiful and healthy baby boy.
This post is inspired by the attached image. I have gotten a great deal of positive feedback on this photo from friends. While it is wonderful to have words such as “beautiful”, “gorgeous’, “stunning”, and “amazing” to describe a photo of myself, these are not words that I would have come up with. As women we tend to be critical of our own image.
It’s a new year. 2012 is bringing some excitement at 5iveLeaf Photography as it will mark the first full year we will be professionally involved in photography.
