When I decided to write this blog post a couple of weeks ago I had no idea how hard it would be. There are dozens of images that we LOVE from every wedding that we photograph. As I started going through the galleries from this year I found myself overthinking…Things such as, “I love this image but the composition isn’t perfect” “Oh I wish the light was different” “I have too many black and whites as favorites” and “I need an even number of favorites from each wedding.” Luckily, as always, Tim was my balancing force and voice of reason. His response was perfect. “Just select the images that you love. Don’t worry and overthink it. BrieAnna and David were our first wedding of the year and were married January 1st in Camden Maine. This image of them on the rooftop at 16 Bay View as they popped a bottle of champagne reflects the feeling of joy that was their day.
This father and son moment captured minutes before Ryan walked down the aisle to marry Siera melts my heart.
Derek and Ron had a beautiful, heartfelt, and intimate wedding at Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville, Maine. This image captures a moment of prayer at the beginning of their ceremony as their family and friends all held hands in a semi-circle around them. The happiness on Derek's face is an echo of that on Ron's. When we look at this image we feel the cocoon of love and peace that their friends and family wrapped them in that day.
Working together for the first time as husband and wife, Linda and Dave hoist the sail of the Schooner Olad in Camden Harbor. This was such a fun moment, and the light was just spectacular.
Nick waits for Cori for their first look at 16 Bay View in Camden, Maine. This moment was filled with joy and anticipation.
Melissa and Michael were married at beautiful Point Lookout in Northport, Maine. We just love the drama of this image as they share a kiss with the view of Penobscot Bay in the background.
BrieAnna pins her dad's boutonnière on while a tear rolls down his cheek. I believe that Tim and I were also crying at that moment as we envisioned the day when our girls would be doing the same thing.
I love the way Ryan's entire face lights up as he and Siera exchange their wedding vows. And the smile on his brother Matt's face in the background is just too sweet.
Darek and Ron take a quiet moment to embrace and soak in the emotion of the day. This was a day these two men thought they may not have the opportunity to experience when they first fell in love. When I look at this image I feel pride for how far we have come as a society and sadness that there are still those who would choose to stand in the way of a love like this. Their wedding vows may have been the most open, honest, respectful, and loving that we have ever witnessed and being a part of their day was a true honor. Love is love, friends.
Dianne and Matt's entire day was picture perfect. There are so many images from their day that I absolutely love! This image was taken right after their gorgeous first look. I just love the drama of the sky and Portland skyline in the background.
Lindsey and Jeff savor a moment together just before joining their friends and family at their reception taking place behind them. The smiles on their faces and the sun and shadows make this an image I adore.
These bridesmaids were the most emotional we saw all year. They were funny, loving, supportive, and boy oh boy did they cry during the special dances. Their tears of joy make for one of my very favorite images of the year.
This ring exchange was joyful and silly and it is all captured here in this image. I can't look at this moment without smiling.

I personally love images that give the viewer a sense of movement. It is the combination of that and the light in this image that I love. This is one of my very favorite first dance images ever.
I must confess that I cheated on this one...I absolutely could not choose between these two images so I made one image out of them ;-)
